What is a Noun: Mostly a Noun is the basic part of speech and it refers to the names of any person, place, things, quality, and state.

It can be classified into both Singular and Plural forms.

Noun Definition: A Noun is a word used to name a person, place, quality, state, animal, or thing.

Noun In Hindi: Noun को हिंदी भाषा में संज्ञा कहा जाता है.

संज्ञा वह शब्द है जिसका प्रयोग किसी व्यक्ति, वस्तु, स्थान, अवस्था (स्थिति), गुण या जानवरों के नाम के लिए किया जाता है.

1) Proper Noun Meaning

A Proper Noun is the name of some specific or particular person or thing, distinguishing it from others of its class.

A Proper Noun always begins with a capital letter.

एक व्यक्तिवाचक संज्ञा किसी विशिष्ट या विशेष व्यक्ति या वस्तु का नाम है, जो इसे अपने वर्ग के अन्य लोगों से अलग करती है.

Proper Noun Examples

  • Kalidas was a famous playwright.
  • Sonam is a good girl.
  • New York is a big city.

In the above sentences, Kalidas is the name of a particular dramatist, while the Noun playwright can be applied to all playwrights.

Similarly, Sonam is a girl’s name, while a girl can be applied to all girls.

And, New York is the name of a particular city, while a city can be applied to all cities.

Thus, Kalidas, Sonam, and New York are Proper Nouns because they refer to some specific or particular person, place or thing.

ऊपर दिए गए वाक्यों में, कालिदास एक विशेष नाटककार का नाम है, जबकि संज्ञा के रूप में नाटककार शब्द सभी नाटककारों के लिए लागू होता है.

इसी तरह, सोनम एक लड़की का नाम है, जबकि संज्ञा के रूप में एक लड़की का नाम सभी लड़कियों के लिए लागू होती है.

और, न्यूयॉर्क एक विशेष शहर का नाम है, जबकि संज्ञा के रूप में एक शहर सभी शहरों के लिए लागू किया जा सकता है.

2) Common Noun Meaning

A Common Noun is a name given in common to every person or thing of the same class or kind.

एक सामान्य संज्ञा एक ही वर्ग या प्रकार के प्रत्येक व्यक्ति या वस्तु को समान रूप से दिया जाने वाला नाम है.

4) Material Noun Meaning

A Material Noun is the name of some matter or substance of which things are made

5) Abstract Noun Meaning

An Abstract Noun refers to some quality, state, event, concept, or feeling without physical existence.

“Abstract Noun कुछ गुणवत्ता, अवस्था, घटना, अवधारणा, या भावनाओं को संदर्भित करता है जिनका कोई भौतिक अस्तित्व नहीं है”

6) Concrete Noun Meaning

Any object or material, which has a physical presence and which can be touched, is called a Concrete Noun.

कोई भी वस्तु या सामग्री, जिसकी भौतिक रूप से उपस्थिति हो एवं जिसे हम छू सके, उसे Concrete Noun कहा जाता है.

7) Countable Noun

8) Uncountable Nouns

Uncountable Noun: Uncountable Nouns indicate things that cannot be counted.

वैसे Nouns जिनकी गणना नहीं की जा सकती है, Uncountable Nouns कहा जाता है.

Some, Any, Much, a lot of, and Little are some of the determiners which are used with uncountable nouns, i.e.

  • He has some knowledge of French.
  • I have little hope of his survival.
  • The Ambani brothers have a lot of money.
  • Is there any water in the jar?

Uncountable Noun Examples

  • Abstract Nouns: Justice, Bravery, Liberty, Sweetness.
  • Things that come in very small pieces: Rice, Salt, Sugar, etc.
  • Liquids: Water, Milk, Oil, Diesel, Blood, etc.
  • Gases: Hydrogen, Oxygen, Nitrogen, etc.
  • Diseases: Fever, Measles, etc.
  • Solids & Materials: Iron, Steel, Gold, etc.

Some Uncountable Nouns can be made plural by using expressions like a cup of tea, two pieces of furniture, etc.
